Droopy Boxer eyes??
« on: May 21, 2010, 06:43:28 PM »
Can anyone help us?  We are thinking about adopting a 5 month old female boxer from our local humane society. The poor little thing has a broken femur...but what we are more concerned about are her eyes.  They look like they droop a lot.  Not ever owning a boxer, I wonder is this normal?  We have researched this, but not coming up with much.

Can anyone give us information??

Don't worry it's perfectly normal and apart from the occasional gunk to wipe up under the eyes there's rarely any real problems, and personally i never really liked the tight eyed Boxers because saggy eyes just give them more character.

Most Boxer's have saggy eye's, I have to wipe Shank's eyes a couple of times a day to get the gunk out ( we call them 'eye bogies')  ;D

I agree with the others - Ruby has tight eyes but I know at least 2 other boxers with the saggy look. here's a picture of one - can you see the droop?

It's normal, and nothing to worry about.  Do you think you will adopt her?

Mine have droopy eyes to different degrees.  When Jack gets tired, his get reall droopy and they get all red.  That's when we know it's bedtime!  Eye boogies are in abundance here.  Thought that when my kids grew up that I was done wiping noses, eyes and (occasionally) bums....guess not!!   ::)

Hoping that 2 more days and you'll have your girl there with you.  General has droopy eyes and when we first got him, I was quite concerned until I found it was normal.  Eye boogers..........get another tissue out, he has those too.   ;D  Can't wait to hear all about her!

Yay, great news, made me smile so much, can't wait to see the pictures, what will you call her?  I have always kept the name they came with but I know lots of people change the name to make the dog feel more theirs.
