As with our U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), they allot for so many insects, etc. in foods that we eat. Take Corn Flakes for one, how many insects get into the batch?
Here's what I found from the FDA page: Warning, parts are pretty gross.
The FDA's action level for peanut butter is 30 or more insect fragments or one or more rodent hairs per 100 grams. Here is a very brief sampling of the FDA's Food Defect Action Level list.

Oh my gosh Nancy... that is just gross, gross, gross..... &.....rodent hairs??? I am just shocked they even have an 'acceptable' level for this... Makes you wonder what on earth else goes into our pre-packaged food....
