Calling all EXTREME chewers! HELP!! GoughNuts?
« on: September 20, 2016, 11:26:31 pm »

I'm in need of a durable chew toy for Roxy, she is an extreme chewer to say the least. She has destroyed 2 XL Kongs, the ones you put treats in and a Jolly ball. She is down to the Kong ball and I've now had to take that away from her since she's taken a chunk out of it. I need something that she can play with and chew on when we're home and something I feel comfortable with leaving in her crate with her. She's crated about 1-3 hours a day during the week.  I may just buy another Kong to put treats in for the time she's crated. I've been looking at toys for extreme chewers and came across the GoughNuts chew toys http://www.goughnuts.com/
Has anyone had any experience with them? I swear the pet store needs a T-Rex section of toys for extreme chewers. Even my Boston Terrier can destroy a tough chew toy. I'm just tired of spending $ on toys and having to toss them. She had one of the big Kong tires and was able to chew through that and one of those fire hose tug toys. That lasted less than 24 hours. Thanks for any info I greatly appreciate it.
My EXTREME chewers Spike and Roxy thank you.

The jolley ball didn't work for Bailey neither ,the medium Kong toy lasted a little longer( a week) I have no other suggestion.

Ruger has 1(and ONLY one) toy that he hasn't torn up. He got it as a secret Santa gift on here a couple of years ago. I'm not sure what it is but here is a picture. He is lucky if a new toy lasts more than a couple of hours.

Thanks, I think I have seen something similar. I've just never bought one because when I see seams on a toy I know that's exactly what Roxy will go for, the seam. She tore through that toy that's made from a fire hose in about 12 hours. At this point though I'm willing to try anything. I just know she's bored in her crate until my husband or I come home from work or one of my kids come home from school.

Ruger also has this ball. It makes noises & he LOVES it. He just recently chewed a hole in it after about 8 months. I will be buying another one of these.

Oh my word, those two are adorable.  You've GOT to share more pictures.

As for chewing?  I'm no help.  I've been fortunate to have them respect their toys and won't even tear a squeaker out.  Usually the material wears down from them squeaking them often.  Squeaker still functioning.   :o

When I replied to your PM, I forgot about the BIG Elk antlers.  That's a possibility.  Just the idea of leaving any chew toys, etc. in their kennels scares me.

Have you asked your Vet?  He/she might have a wonderful idea.  Give them a call and see what they suggest.  I think they've probably seen a few cases of over chewers.   :victory:

Heard good things about the Goughnuts toys (from Doberman people). My 2 dogs aren't hard core chewers so I can't say for sure.

Best of luck finding one that works - and share if you do!

That toy sounds like a lot of fun.  Thanks for the info because we don't have that one.   :o

For those extreme chewers I like hockey pucks. They have yet to destroy one they are fun as they can toss it around. I also just recently got my extreme chewer( he is a pit bull) those Tuff Toys. He has a turtle and a lobster has had them over a month and they look like new and he chews on those guys every day all day.

The UPS man should be delivering one of those here Thursday.   >:D  I can't wait to see what they do with it.  I didn't get two since Maggie doesn't seem to play with the toys like she use to.  Guess Monster Major plays her out.   :'(
